Aubrey O'Day skips Peepshow: Only two people care

How big of a draw will Aubrey O'Day be for Peepshow?
Tuesday night, the woman who brags of admiring Hitler's intellectual firepower allowed her understudy to perform on what was to be only her second night in the show. Why? On her blog she posted a video in which she blames photos that were illicitly taken of her the previous night for her petulant one-day vacation. She also talks about female empowerment and strips down to her bra in the video while talking rather bizarrely about her weight, body image and being exploited.
So, how upset were people when it was announced that the brand name
celebrity in Peepshow, Aubrey O'Day, would not be performing? According to a reliable source, who requested anonymity due to
not being authorized to discuss box office numbers, only two people asked for a
refund. That is right: two refunds. Apparently, the rest of the audience was
content with celebrity Holly Madison, and the understudy for O'Day.
O'Day's vacation day, which she took to teach us all a lesson about
her special qualities, may instead have taught a very different lesson to the
producers of Peepshow about what kind of audience draw their new star brings to the show. Good thing they have Holly Madison for a year.

I jumped the gun and posted something on your other insightful blog about her. Little did I know that another blog dealing with the continuing saga of the self-inflicted Perils of Aubrey would occur this fast, Richard. So, if you'll permit me, I'll paraphrase a bit in light of your new one.
I am completely astounded at this dumb rant. And you hit the nail on the head. She seems WAY more interested in chasing people down by contending they are stealing money from her by posting this stuff on the internet, so much time that she actually misses a performance that IS supposed to make her money. In other words, how can you lose money by not making money? Really stupid warped logic, if you ask me.
Peepshow at P-Ho really picked a winner in Aubrey O'day. Even before starting Peepshow, she shows up on ClusterFox News and blathers total blabbering nonsense and insensitivity about despicable dictators. And the stuff she said was so stupid that it had even Mr. Hannity, who is pretty much from Planet Republican and gets news slanted wrong all the time, scratching his head in befuddlement. That is a hell of an achievement to do that!
Now this. And she hasn't even completed two shows yet!
I really think she is trying to win either the Skank of the Month and/or the Knucklehead of the Night Awards. I say give her both. She won 'em hands down.
Takes her top off. Then utter four letter obscenities at the camera to "all the haters out there." She completes this free performance of her munificent interstellar acting abilities by doing this ingenious choreography of double flipping off the camera.
Real class act there, Aubrey.
I would be willing to guess she just got everyone in the cast and the people behind the scenes as well as the management of Peepshow all hanging their heads, hands on their face and shaking their heads in disbelief. Skank City at P-Ho now and Her Majesty Queen Aubrey is holding court. Sometimes. If she's around. And if you're real quiet and still when she does show up, maybe you'll be able to witness yet another over-the-top ballistic missile meltdown rant of misguided adolescent rage by her.
What does she do for an encore after this You Tube performance? She can probably dress up as Eva Braun complete with, brown shirt, jackboots, whips, chains and Doberman pincers and goose step around. Sorry, Richard, I probably shouldn't have typed that, but I wouldn't put it past her. I might have screwed up and gave her ideas.
Las Vegas loses again. We are attracting them.
I would be probably right on the money surmising that Harrah's, the brand new owner of P-Ho, is probably looking at this and going, gee, what kind of show and entertainers did we inherit when we bought P-Ho? And why is this woman in our casino working and performing in a multi-million dollar show on the world famous Las Vegas Boulevard, when in actuality she should be doing the afternoon shift as a featured dancer at Olympic Gardens?
She's not doing herself any favors with this You Tube video. I would really venture to say she will be allowed to do her contract and then BOOT! Bounced out the door so fast her fanny perpendicular bounces on the sidewalk in back by the monorail station.

My guess is she looked terrible in the shot.
She said something about it being an hour and a half in to the performance and I was hitting a high note...
That tells me she(thought she?) looked like crap.
I don't think she is any kind of draw for the show.
People love Holly and that is why they are keeping her.

doesn't mean only 2 people cared, just that only 2 people asked for their money back to go through the hassle of attending yet another show. just gotta have a scandalous headline, huh?
sounds to me like she was really upset, yelling which hurt her vocal chords so couldn't perform. no one is supposed to be taking pics of this live show to spread around. i don't fault her. jumping back on the saddle is mature.

Just one more thing....
Upon being kicked out of Danity Kane, here's a quote:
"Check this out, baby girl," Diddy said. "See, your attitude is gonna have you in a dark and lonely place. ... What you need to do, at the end of the day, is humble yourself.
"I got love for Aubrey. I don't have any beef with her," he added. "I just want to work with the young lady that I signed, not the person that fame has made her."
BOO YAH!
I guess that still rings true today. And she has clearly demonstrated she ain't got it. And if she got it? It ain't worth all the miscellaneous b.s. you have to put up with to bring it out on stage to get her to perform.

Watched the video. I only know anything about Aubrey O'Day is because of your blog and her "Hitler" comments. She seems to be a little too impressed with herself to go much farther than she has already - although she may be talented beyond what looks like a nice body and the ability to sing and dance, which must be required for peepshow. Without your and her own publicity, I doubt that anyone would be searching the Internet for those awful photos that apparently make her look fat and ugly. She could have at least taken off a few more clothes in the video - oh wait, it couldn't be posted on YouTube if she did that! I think that she's just trying to get attention - or maybe she's trying to revive "Showgirls".

As Aubrey sings in her song "Never Fallin'", "You say I get around for my 15 minutes, You ain't even had ONE WHOLE MINUTE".
I'm astounded by all the hatred toward her.
On her FIRST night on "Peepshow", someone decides it'll be really cool to illegally take an unflattering picture of her NUDE while performing so they could spread it on the blogsopheres to humiliate and degrade her. Did Kelly Monaco, Mel B, or Holly Madison, the other celeb headliners of "Peepshow" get subjected to this? NO.
I don't blame her for being upset. It is not so much the nudity that is the problem, but rather that someone decides that it's funny and acceptable to subject Aubrey in her most vulnerable state to humiliation. Why is that OK? I ask you, ColinFromLasVegas and Richard Abowitz.
If someone took a nude photo of you illegally in an unflattering pose with malicious intent to spread it on the web for laughs, would you be OK with that? It doesn't matter if she is nude in the show or has posed for PLAYBOY, the point is she was violated.
Cameras are not allowed in most live shows for a reason, and for "Peepshow", one of the reasons is the protect the performers' privacy.
I can't wait to see Aubrey in "Peepshow". She is not only confident, proud, talented, and real, she empowers others. She speaks her mind.
I don't blame her for pulling out of one show. She was clearly distraught and would not have been able to perform to her full potential, which people are paying to see.

Who is this chick?
Posted by: Big Karl | September 25, 2009 at 06:23 AM
+100 HiHaters, I completely agree.
I tried to take a picture of my group BEFORE Peepshow began and the usher almost ripped my head off. Then I realized how sensitive the cast members must be to pictures. To all of you who don't think she is justified in being upset, Please think of this: The photos in Playboy are airbrushed and approved by Aubrey prior to going on the stands. I can't stand it when someone tags a photo of me on facebook without my approval let alone putting a topless (or mostly topless) picture with bad lighting and no smiles out on the internet.
But this wasn't Richard's point to his column. He was saying that no one cared about her cancelling on a Wednesday or Tuesday night and that she probably isn't a great asset to Peepshow. I disagree. Aubrey draws attention with everything she does. She was the 4th best singer in a 5 girl group. Do you know anyone elses name in that group? Or even the name of the group? No. She is a publicity mastermind (or her publicist is). Peepshow is thrust back into the gossip rags with Aubrey's arrival, which is more than most strip shows can say. By the way, I think the target market for peepshow is the kind of people who read the gossip rags. The show isn't trying to be intellectual or stimulating (in the brain - it is happy to stimulate elsewhere).
Also, Peepshow is about empowering women (I know it sounds strange a topless show about empowering women, but it is). I have seen Peepshow twice and every time I leave I am in awe of the beautiful women and I find my body just that much more sexy. In this youtube video, Aubrey is strong enough to show everyone what she really looks like and tells everyone to suck it if they don't like it. If only every woman could be that confident. I am pretty sure that wasn't the first take on that video but at least she was able to control what she put out. She didn't leave it up to some sleazy person at the show taking it from a disposable camera with bad lighting angles.

PS AUBREY IS 5 YEARS OLDER THAN WHEN DK WAS FORMED, IE; SHE GREW INTO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: dansgirl | September 25, 2009 at 03:43 PM
Jes, I completely agree. When Aubrey O'Day speaks, the gossip rags listen.
Did Holly Madison, Mel B, Kelly Monaco, or any of the "Peepshow" celeb headliners create any HEADLINES? It hasn't even been ONE week yet and Aubrey has gotten "Peepshow" all over the web.
People are interested and they're interested because of Aubrey, not boring Holly.
Posted by: HiHaters | September 25, 2009 at 04:44 PM
Aubrey is upset, because she's 30 lbs overweight. PERIOD. She is not currently the same size she was when she was originally fitted for her costumes. Not everyone is going to look like Mel B. In fact, Mel's replacement Shoshana Bean had entirely different costumes because she has a voluptuous figure. But what Shoshana may have lacked in abdominal muscle, she more than made up for in pure vocal fire power (check her on youtube). Shoshana's outfits had to be altered for Aubrey. When it's your job to look good, and you know you're going to be naked on stage from all angles, failure to execute is no excuse to throw a pity party. Stop eating your emotions, and figure it out-or give the role to a PRO who can handle the scrutiny.

After reading these comments and the ones from the second column on the heavyweight subject of "Peepshow"/Aubrey O'Day, I think that I might be right - it IS a remake of "Showgirls"!
