Angel speaks out on feud with local journo

May 19, 2008 | 12:07 pm

Crissangel Criss Angel has finally commented publicly on the ugly spat between himself and Review-Journal's Norm Clarke that happened after the Miss USA pageant in April. During the incident, Angel threatened the eyesight of Clarke. He then ignored opportunities to deny or retract the threat. Yesterday, on the red carpet for the Academy of Country Music Awards, Steve Friess asked Angel about the incident. On his blog, Friess transcribes their brief exchange:

Friess: Are you planning to apologize for the threat you made against Norm Clarke of the Review-Journal?

Angel: The problem is, some people got their lines crossed. And if some people got the whole story, they would see that what he wrote is actually not what really happened. So there’s nothing to apologize for.

Friess: What really happened?

Angel: I’d need awhile to explain that to you and now is not the appropriate time.

The appropriate time, of course, would have been immediately after the incident. If Angel has a story to tell at any point, he can still offer it; then there will not be more of these awkward red carpet encounters. And there will be more. In fact, the questioner could have as easily been me, if I had been covering ACM's red carpet instead of the Helldorado Days Parade. I am sure I will run into Criss Angel soon and get my chance to ask. And I wonder what questions Norm Clarke might have for Angel on the next red carpet those two meet?

Angel has created a public relations nightmare for himself that with his Cirque show set to open in September, many in Vegas are still interested in his threat to Clarke and other ugly behavior attributed to him during the Miss USA contest back in April.

ALSO,the story was spread by you that CA gave a camera man at the pageant the finger. The only picture I have found is CA giving the peace sign.I'm sure that if it was the finger it would be all over the tabloids, yet I DONT SEE YOUR APOLOGIES FOR SPREADING LIES.

Dear Anonymous,

I know Criss reads these comments and I love him so much.
He loves me too, he stared at me for a whole minute.
I want him to marry me. I will leave my husband for him and stay home and do whatever he wants.
I love you Criss.
Your little High Horse

Re: Luke's post. David Copperfield is far better than Criss Angel. -- Really?? I thought I had read that Mr Copperfield was being investigated for an alleged rape of a woman. You think that an alleged threat against a fuddy duddy journalist is more outrageous than rape??? Luke are you posting your comments from a prison cell?? Perhaps the journalists got their story about Mr Copperfield confused? Is that possible-journalists embellishing their stories for better reading?? If this is all Las Vegas has to concern themselves with-it is sad

This is hilarious. Now I see why CA don't have to do anything or say anything about this threat issue. He just ignores it and hides behind ladies' skirts because of all these Loyals are spouting out different theories. It's hilarious because some Loyals are making exuses that it did happen but he had a bad day and he didn't mean it while other Loyals are saying it didn't happen at all while others are saying it's typical Las Vegas "tabloid journalism" and yet others are saying it's not on film so therefore it's not true. It's like Loyals are all tripping over each other to come up with something, and that something has to be something in favor of CA. It don't do anything to dispel the truth of what happened....a threat was made.

I do see one comment professing undying love for CA and walking away from a marriage. I applaud her coming forth because at least she appears truthful.

CA's got it made. He formulates a fan club and don't even have to hand out decoder rings or anything else that might cost money, but His Divinity lets you call yourselves "Loyals." That's pretty easy. Just do personality cult type stuff and that should work. It's like another person posted...about the similarities to that Charles Manson cult thing. Are all of you going to sit around outside the Luxor with the symbol of a bunny coming out of a top hat carved on your foreheads?

Pam....David Copperfield is worth 45 million per year. You don't think any young and aggressive girl is going to not try to get a few dollars from him? Yes, David has been investigated and from what I understand as of date NO CHARGES have been placed upon him. David is innocent until proven guilty. He has yet to be proven of such crime. Wait before jumping the gun because that is not over yet. Also, Criss is a fool in diamonds. David is a man of dignity and will always carry himself as such.

Norman who?

He's a nobody compared to Chriss Angel. Who cares about what some lame journalist said?

It's the honest to God truth.

To COLINFROMLASVEGAS

Since when is it a crime to threaten someone?

I'm going to gouge out your eyeballs Colin.

Now, let's see you put me in jail. :)

As you've noticed, it is NOT a crime, as no Police have been involved in this case.

Moron.

TO LUKE

That is all your opinion about D. Copperfield, you know that, right?

And, for this matter, Angel is innocent until proven guilty.

I, myself, would be more worried about an alleged rape than an alleged threat, which, by the way "CollininLasVegas" happens to NOT be illegal.

By the way, if any girl wanted money, they wouldn't go to David Copperfield, that old man is not the richest guy in town, nor is he the cutest. I think they would go for Angel, don't you? He's much richer than Copperfield, would make a front page story, and he's a fresh face, which is why I think you hate him. I don't like him or dislike him, I have no problem against him.

Unlike SOME people we know. :)

ColinFromLasVegas says: Are all of you going to sit around outside the Luxor with the symbol of a bunny coming out of a top hat carved on your foreheads?

LMAO....please don't give them loyals any ideas.

David Copperfield isn't the richest guy in town nor is he the cutest....well I do know David makes 45 million per year so he is doing just fine for now. As for looks, well I'm a straight guy so I have no comment on that. However, your response clearly implies that you msut be a true young loyal of Criss Angel. You may want to take notice at some point that your Devine Criss Angel in which you idol spends the majority of the time lying to the general public that one simply cannot believe any words that come out of his mouth. To name just one example, ask him about his age. Criss has given a couple numbers during the course of this past year alone.

They're coming out of the woodwork, look out!

MAN, you've got some idiots posting on this thread.

As a friend from Vegas said; "With all the F bombs in his comments to Norm, when he is back doing kid shows on Long Island in a year or so, he'll have to clean up his language."

What a moron.

thats right , groupie power !!!! and there are more of us than u so why not just shut up ur boring asse's already

So, Criss is mentioned in Norm Clarke's column again, regarding Veronica's radio interview. It reads like it was written very carefully. If this incident really happened, and IF Mr. Clarke truly though he had reason to be afraid of Criss following through, I wonder why he would temp fate by mentioning him in print again?
