Cirque announces Criss Angel's Believe
11:29 AM PT, Apr 17 2008
Last weekend magician Criss Angel was allegedly giving the finger on television and threatening the eyesight of a Vegas columnist. And today, as if none of this had happened, Cirque du Soleil, in a press release, revealed the name of their collaboration with Angel that is to open at the Luxor in September: Criss Angel Believe. Explaining this obvious name for a magic show there is a long pontification involving, ta-da, Houdini, of course.
At first I thought the most interesting thing about the press release was that there was a press release instead of a press conference. After all, Cirque usually unveils its shows in stages that generate considerable press attention. For example, there was a press conference with Angel to announce this collaboration last year before Angel's Cirque show even had a name.
So why not have a press conference now? After all, Angel is already living at the Luxor. I am sure he is busy and all having to spend so many of his nights hanging out in the VIP areas of LAX with his celebrity friends. But Angel is not even quoted in the press release for his show. And it really seems to be his show. Angel is not just the star of Believe but is credited with co-writing the production and, according to the release, Angel, not Cirque, owns the trademark on the show's moniker.

I went back and checked on Cirque's last show to open in Vegas, Love, and discovered that Cirque also announced that title and dates with a mere press release. It wasn't until a month later that a big press conference was held with George Martin and an offering of a preview of some of the costumes and plans were unveiled on Love. So it will be interesting to see if Cirque follows that pattern with Believe and its star, the increasingly controversial Criss Angel. What a tool. That's one show that will never see a ticket bought by me.

" Believe" what? That he is arrogant and wants to beat up a handi-capped columnist? LOL~ What a joke.
I think the whole thing behind this is: that if he doesn't show up or keep his obligations, the show will go on with their acrobats and clowns, etc.
Years ago, I saw "Mystere" at Treasure Island. I personally do not care for these type of shows. Clowns spraying water on the audience and stealing their popcorn, but I am at a loss why LUXOR would allow our middle-aged gothic boy do a show.
Why would anyone go to see him? Aside from his young following, I find it difficult to believe that the type of audience that once sat at the Mirage seeing Siegfried and Roy, would want to see Angel. And what will he be doing? Guessing women's panites? Or maybe making their breasts grow? Or better yet, hypnotizing them into stripping nude? LOL~
It is a shame that Luxor has turned it's beautiful hotel with the motiff of Eqypt for a restaurant entitled "Cat House," a nearly naked bikini contest at their LAX nightclub, (of course hosted by Angel) and now this? This is just disgusting.
I'd rather go to MGM Grand. At least there are lions in the lobby. Hey? Maybe Angel will be cleaning up after them in a few years.
Sincerely,
Yen Woo Ping

Las Vegas has really gone to the dogs. His show on TV is enough!!! I'd like to pour some water into my bathtub. Lets see if he can walk on that.

HMP!!!! Well I personally think it's going to be a great show. I hope I get to see it one day. At least one of these years during the 10 year period. Ahhh The Luxor is not doing anything worse than any other club in Vegas. I have seen and read much worse. As far as him and his GF. I don't think she is pretty but hey I'm a woman. Why should I? ;)wink. Besides I don't like to see him with anyone. I just like looking at him alone. LOL Oh I'm so bad I know. LOL:):):)
But whatever.... If he is happy then It's o.k. with me..... I'm happy that things are going o.k. for him even if he does things I would not do. Aside from everything else I love the Mindfreak show on A&E. I love the magic stuff. The interactive stuff is so cool. I love to be freaked out. I am easy prey for magicians anyway. :)
I hope that there is less stunts in the new season and more magic. I'm not crazy about watching stunts or near death experiences. I don't like the gross stuff either. Just magic stuff.

That is incorrect. A lot of hotels have not become bordellos. The Mirage was never like that and neither was The Flamingo despite having the "Bugsy Segal Bar." Of course, I considered that an adequate name because he did start Las Vegas as a whole. But even Bugsy, excuse me, Ben Segal is probably turning over in his grave right now along with Houdini!

I think that the press should stop being so rude and respect people's privacy, look what they did to princess diana, and to britney. Just because their famous doesn't give press the right to harrass and say crude and mean things to them to get facial features so they can write lies in their gossip colums. anyone with a brain knows the truth about these smutt press and should dismiss them as hollywood waste. from serena, stay strong criss, i got ur back

I HAVE TO LAUGH AT CRISS ANGEL AND HIS NEW ROMANCE. SOON HE WILL BE DATING 12 YEAR OLDS. HE LOOKS SO BAD IN EVERYBODY EYES SINCE HE HOOKED UP WITH A 23 YEAR OLD BEAUTY QUEEN. IT MUST BE GREAT SEX BECAUSE WHAT ELSE CAN HE HAVE IN COMMON WITH THIS KID - HE NEEDS TO WAKE UP AND DATE WOMEN HIS AGE AND LEAVE HER TO THE COLLEGE BOYS!!!!!!

SETH,he looks so bad in everybodies eyes? You havent talked to me or few hundred thousand fans.I read on some famous magician blogs such as Richard Kauffmans from GENII magezine(very well respected in the magic community)that cant wait to see his live show.Alot of them loved his live show in NY and respect Criss's talent. His girlfrien is a non-issue to them.If you want to spitt in someones face all the time I sure wish you"d find someone else because I read his book, watched his shows on tv and his live show in NY on u-tube and I love the guy,I think he's great.

Richard,Criss is all about mysteriousness and the element of surprise and he will reveal things in his own timing which I'm sure is very well planned out.Just saying from what i know about him and in keeping with the way Criss does things. He is his own best PR man and you can see how good he is at that.Houdini was a master at that and Criss is studying and learning from him quite well I think.

maybe if all of u great critics would go out and spend more money, in the hotels of or local city, the ur hotels wouldn't turn in to bordelos as u put it. the bottom line is that sex sells, and criss angel is hot, and for all of u boring man who try to bash him, u might want to consider changing ur look to a lot like he's, and u might get more women that way, criss angel rocks

Well i for one have mixed feelings about Angel, I myself am a professional Magician of 20 yrs. and I do admit I am a little envious when I read these things because like many other Magicians I think I would definitely do things a lot differently, but then again maybe that's why I haven't "made it" because its not from my lack of skill, because I know in my heart of hearts my "magical" skills far surpass his in a REAL life no retake or working with stooges environment. Like most workers in the trenches, myself included, I work alone, and re-lie on my personality, wit and my skill of slight of hand to entertain my clients. I am happy for him and his team of magi who were all probably doing much better in the wallet because of this kid and like him or not he has brought Magic to the forefront of the entertainment industry and for magic, not to mention he got us, magicians, out of tuxedos, as well as Blaine, who I do like more. The thing is as true magic fans will know Angel's creativity is best left on the stage where he is a much better performer, writer and producer the only reason he does close up magic is because of Blaine! who is a much better magician, in my opinion. I hate to admit it though I think beLIEve is going to awesome, weather or not he is the Magician thats going to be doing that opening for the next 10 years is unlikely because that job could be taught to another magician or actor and Angel still makes his money but you can bet it will alway bear his name. Creative genius I'll give him, diplomat of good will he is not. I did meet him once before he was famous, he was a real jack hole to me and had one of his brothers brush me off. He was very uncool.

i just saw believe and it was the worst two hours of my life. Talk about self indulgent crap. Pretty much the whole theatre hated it except for little kids dressed in CA tshirts. They take away your cell phones so i couldnt even look things up on Wikipedia to keep myself entertained. CA, please go away, you suck .
