Spirituality at a Vegas nightclub?

January 2, 2008 | 10:56 am

Privemanager Of all the openings and events I went to over the last few days, Prive at Planet Hollywood stands out the most.

The reason: While taking a tour of the club just before it opened, I ran into a group playing bagpipes marching about.

Men in skirts are not uncommon in Las Vegas, but bagpipes in a nightclub? That was a first. Prive's managing director, Greg Jarmolowich (pictured), explained: "We have bagpipers march through the club to march out any bad energy and bring good energy for the club's opening."

And this ritual is only part of the spiritual approach Prive has taken to opening a nightclub on the Las Vegas Strip:

"We want to create good energy. We had a Buddhist monk come in earlier today. He burned sage and blessed the club, worked with us on our energy, got our minds focused right. We did meditation and had acupuncture for all our key employees. It is important to us that there is no ego and we work as a team. So, we blessed the club as a family."
