Monte Carlo headliner cancels shows

12:10 PM PT, Jan 27 2008
Lance Burton's magic show at the Monte Carlo on Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan. 29 and 30) have been canceled because of the fire on Friday. The theater where Burton performs his show is not located anywhere near where the fire took place. Therefore, it looks like the Monte Carlo may not be reopening as quickly as some (including myself) had anticipated.

On the positive side, according to parent company MGM-Mirage, as of yesterday afternoon almost all guests were able to return to their rooms in order to retrieve their possessions.

Eesh . . . is Lance even human? Sure they didn't just decommission his animatronic body for a few nights? Ever ride in the elevator at the Monte Carlo? It's torture . . . having to stare at his waxy face staring at you from the wall (much less twenty times over one weekend). And can you tell me how the Carlo got 4 stars from the auto club? We stayed there the weekend before last up on the 30th floor. Thank god . . . one week more and we'd of been burnt to a crisp (or maybe just transfered to a better hotel).

This is a great hotel with a great location on the strip. Hope it's back and operating soon!
