Britney gives a whole lot less on "Gimme More"

Oh, Britney...

The few cutaway shots during Britney's comeback showed people laughing or, in the case of Kanye West, aghast!

To me, Britney's dancing looked lethargic, and -- even worse -- her lack of interest in moving her lips along with all her vocals was ridiculous. The stress showed on her face.

Despite the explicit reference to Elvis in '68, this was no comeback. And when her lips mouthed "Thank you," no sound came out. From my first reaction, she did herself no favors tonight.

So, what did Criss Angel contribute to that?

What did you think?

I'm no expert, but I totally agree with you about Britney's performance. It was painful to watch. I almost had to change the channel, I kept thinking that she was going to do a faster or better song after starting off so slowly. What was MTV thinking? She should have never ever performed. Oh well.

Not the train wreck I was hoping for,but a disaster none the less. Is it not politically correct to mention that she also looked a wee bit chubby for those clothes? No mirrors backstage B? MTV worked the ratings angle nicely on this one. And the rest of your critique is right on the mark Richard. The only question is, why did she bother to move her lips at all?

Hey man I would tap her in a heartbeat. Who cares what she sings as long as she sings give me more in bed. :)

Personally, I think she was stressed out. You could see it in her face, in her movements. Her CD will still sell like hot cakes because he song is not bad...but she needs to do some major recovery QUICK!!!!!

With all her money why didn't she hire a personal trainer and nutritionist and get her jelly belly in shape before this? She could at least hire a good hair stylist and get rid of those greasy extensions! What an utter embarrassment.

I watched Brit's performance and I felt badly for her. She looked so nervous and totally stressed. It wasn't what I was hoping to see, but I hope she can get herself together.

Britney has courage. It must have been very difficult to have gone up in front of millions of people knowing that her every movement would be scruitinized. Didn't you see her hand shaking--have somecompassion, people.

Brit is just another garden-variety celebrity moron with money, fame, and no accountability...until now.
She "earned" all of this solely on the basis of looks, sexy moves, and voice, ...i.e. "entertainment".
Soooo, Brit becomes history when she's no longer "entertaining"....that'd be now. I think the saying is "Live by the sword, die by the sword."

She'll be lucky to reach age 30 without filing for bankruptcy.
Michael Jackson would be the model for that route (another moron with money, fame and no accountability).....although in Michael's case, he's had a far more substantial body of work to live off of until eventual bankruptcy.

...Pride cometh before the fall...

i didnt really get to see it...but i mean why are you guys hating on her?!
i mean its not fair..we all make mistakes in life...i mean i dont want to make you all think like i do...i just dont like the fact that they talk so bad about her and dont know wat shes really going through!
i think everyone shouldnt really believe wat they say in magazines!!!
papparazi just want to sell
well thats my way of seeing it!!
haha
ILY BRITNEy!!!
you rokk!

At least Tonya Harding will have some company.

People need to stop being so judgemental. Britney is and always will be one of the biggest stars in the world, and she will be back bigger than ever. so what wheather her performance was'ent the best at the vma's who are you to judge.

I think that everyone would cut B some slack! Gosh! Even though Britney made many mistakes in her life, but people, cmon! Have a heart and be human! I know that all of you had made MANY mistakes. You could tell the stress on her face, and people should have not been rude. I know that if you were going through that situation, you wouldn't like that to happen to you.

Maybe before the next time Brit performs anywhere, she should try some rehersal. I don't see this as MTVs fault, if she didn't feel up to performing at a professional level, then she shouldn't have accepted the invitation. She would have been better off to stay home rather than become a laughing stock (again).

I think people should just leave britney alone. Its hard to be famous to start. And then to have your life splashed around the globe. Let her get better without all the critism. I thought she looked great. Anyone who thinks she didnt is just plain jealous. Like i said let her get better in private without everyone trying to make a living off her.

I think she did it on purpose as a slap in your face to MTV. I would have too, if I overheard that Silverman would be dissing my kids in her tasteless monologue. Shame on you MTV!!

I agree that her performance was lazily done and she almost looked drunk or heavily sedated, but give her a break. She's going through a lot right now and I'm sure she is depressed and it probably would have been smart for her not to agree to do the performance, but she did and it took a lot of courage. And to all the people that said she doesn't look good in the outfit, yall are crazy cause I think she looks great for having two kids. I just had a baby 5 months ago and I would love to see my body look like hers. Yes she is a little heavier than she used to be, but she carries it well and she looks better than say Beyonce or JLo. Everyone just needs to leave her alone.

The performance was completely painful to watch, she looked as though she hadn't slept, or showered for that matter, in days. I love the song, but maybe Britney wasn't quite ready for the big comeback. I understand that she's gone through a lot of difficult times over the past few years, but maybe she just needs a little more time. Also, she DOES look good for having had 2 babies, but a more 'modest' outfit might have been more appropriate (at least something to cover up that belly..) You can still be sexy in more than a sparkly bra and underwear. Oh, and learning the words/choreography to the song would also be useful for future performances :)

Britney s great...after all she's been through this past while she at least deserves to be cut some slack...like come on none of us are perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brit you rock..
and i say your so lucky, ur a star..
