Who is the worst boss in Vegas?

March 19, 2007 |  4:38 pm
I've been reading with increasing fascination "worst boss" stories from other cities. They seem sort of tame compared to the stories I've heard in Vegas (and, one or two experiences I could mention witnessing). Unfortunately, unlike Gawker in New York, I can't put up anonymous horror stories that name names. But I don't want that to totally stop me from sharing with you stories of the evil bosses of Vegas. Some really should be put on the map for what they do to workers. We have more than a few people responsible for managing employees in Las Vegas who do not have the talents to be in charge of the fate of an empty box. Particularly with management, Vegas has what I call white-collar battle commissions where the executive types always seem to be working just one job above their skill level. And, you know whose fault that is? The people who work for them. So, please, Las Vegas locals, take a moment and leave in the comments bellow your story of the worst boss you have ever had in Las Vegas. Bonus points for stories about strip club managers who seem to deserve their own category of bad boss! But please remember to leave out the names of people, gambling resorts, businesses or companies.

Working for a local entertainment producer was the WORST job experience ever. He was a sexual harrasser who spent more time abusing people in his company than he did actually organizing his own business. People in his company offices were so beaten down because it was like working for someone who totally didn't appreciate people. Even his talent on stage was miserable and his ideas are the same from show to show with nothing ever original. Not to mention he was always suspected of doing really unethical things with his money and his business partners. What a humiliating job, I'm ebarrased to have it on my resume.

This blog topic is destined for the incinerator. Having to keep all details anonymous, all you will get is lame wannabe screenwriters concocting their best attempts at something entertaining. Witness the 'EntertainmentBabe's' post as an example.

You are better than this, Richard. Don't bring the Moveable Buffet down to the level of Craigslist Rant and Raves.

Thanks for reading, Big Karl. And, I appreciate your view, not to mention your constant support of the Buffet's talented photographer, Sarah Gerke. I know that having to leave off all of the interesting stuff people send that isn't anonymous means losing a lot of the fun in this. I know better than you. I am reading it! But I don't set the rules; I just work here. So, this is how my editor and I decided that we could approach the question of the bad bosses of Vegas. On the other hand, some of the private e-mails I am getting from people I know are so good (or, bad, I guess), I might wind up reporting this story in a more formal way. And, if that happens, and I have done the actual reporting myself behind what goes up on the blog, I will certainly name some big names in town. But as long as it is anonymous accusations I am afraid I must leave the accused bosses anonymous, too. Yrs., Richard

Looking forward to 'Who is the worst boss in Vegas?: The unedited, uncensored edition'.

Also looking forward to the next time you get some major press like the RawVegas interview that you bring along your sidekick, the inestimable, effervescent, and underexposed celebutographer, Sarah Gerke. The tag team of prose and pictures plays like the Best of the Beasty Boys in their heyday. The Movable Buffet is the Atlas of blogs, singlehandedly holding up the Entertainment section of the L.A. Times. Nobody chronicles the naughty bits of my least favorite town in America like you do, Richard.

The unbaptised readers of this blog would think these words hyperbole, but we in the know, know better.

Would you sue me for copyright infringement if I got the Movable Buffet logo tattooed on my biceps?

A loyal fan,

Big Karl

I'm with Big Karl regarding the excellence of the Buffet.
