Frankie Laine Dies

February 7, 2007 | 12:18 pm
Singer Frankie Laine, who I will always remember for singing "Rawhide," died Tuesday at 93. One of the uncomfortable things about reviewing entertainment in Vegas is this town will book people who should not be on stage anymore. And, I have seen a few of those horrible and heart breaking shows. Laine had one of those moment here in 2000 when he was 88. Norm Clarke reported the sad details at the time.

I don't know about Frankie performing in 2000 when he was 88. But I did see Frankie in 1960 at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas. All I can say is he put on a wonderful show and was very gracious to all in the audiance.

Frankie was great a few years ago....but, not washed up...just had to add a few high notes for him...
