Mirage Headliner Passes on Letterman

12:12 PM PT, Nov 6 2006

A litte television program, "Late Show with David Letterman," will have to try to get by without Mirage headliner Danny Gans. Gans apparently is too busy to appear on the show. Oh, Letterman's people call everyday, Gans' manager tells Norm, but you know how schedules can be hard to arrange for a man as popular as Danny Gans. That's Danny Gans: G-A-N-S. He does impressions. His specialty is singing "The 12 Days of Christmas" in a dozen different voices.

America you aren't missing much.

The Letterman incident shows Danny Gans' arrogance. Drive around Las Vegas and you'll see dozens of advertisement in which he appears with a stupid grin on his face, next to text like "Entertainer of the Year." There is no such award and the truth is Danny Gans is an untalented hack.

Hi -

Some years ago when Danny Gans was profiled at length in the L.A. Times there was a surprising amount of criticism of him. Sure, he seems to have a slightly inflated ego, but I think most entertainers do, even if some hide it better than others. His act is pretty entertaining, and I think it plays well especially to the many Las Vegas visitors from the Midwest and smaller towns. Further, he often changes his act slightly from show to show, unlike some entertainers who seem to perform the same 60 minutes of material for literally years. I say give Danny Gans a break - if he has been playing in such a competitive town for so many years he must be doing something right.
