It is going to be an octogenarian weekend for me. Tonight I am going to see Tony Bennett at the Las Vegas Hilton. Then tomorrow night I will be at the Orleans on assignment for Rolling Stone magazine reviewing Chuck Berry (appearing with Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis) who turned 80 yesterday. Last time I saw Chuck Berry and Little Richard together was at Caesars. And, while this will be my first time seeing Tony Bennett, he is certainly a regular in Las Vegas. But Las Vegas really isn't the oldies town anymore some people may still believe. Next weekend, for example, is the Vegoose music festival which features an entirely different generation of acts for two days of music including: The Mars Volta, The Roots and Fiona Apple. Besides: Tony Bennett's new disc debuted at #3 on the charts

sooo...how'd you like the show?

Hi Josh, Thanks for reading. I wrote my review of the music for Rolling Stone that will be in the next issue. One thing I did not have space to get into there was the emcee Jimmie Walker. He was famous in the 70's and sounds like it. Jokes about them new fangled ATM cards and race jokes that definitely came from another era. About as up to date as he got were a few jokes about how old The Rolling Stones are now which, if you think about it, might work anywhere except a Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis concert. Yrs., Richard
