'Stomp' at Aladdin

12:37 PM PT, Aug 30 2006

The Aladdin has been in the news with the fight for ownership of the theater in its shopping mall. Meanwhile, the actual resort has been crawling toward a transformation into Planet Hollywood.

Part of that change is a new 1,500 seat theater. The rumor was that Motley Crue might be the headliner when it opens. But Mike Weatherford of the Review-Journal found an audition notice for a resident production of "Stomp" to go in the new theater. According to Weatherford, "The show's wordless premise celebrates the sounds of everyday life. Cast members dressed in downscale T-shirts and khakis show their knack for turning anything from trash-can lids to plastic garbage bags into percussion instruments." According to Broadwayworld.com, "Stomp" aims to open at the Aladdin in spring 2007.
