Rap Ban Update

May 9, 2006 |  9:41 am
Local political pundit Jon Ralston is reporting this morning that Sheriff Bill Young, best known nationally for his call to ban gangsta rap from Las Vegas, will not be running for reelection. Meanwhile, the ban just ain't exactly happening. There were never a lot of hip hop shows of any kind in Las Vegas. That hasn't changed. But it is worth noting that last weekend Snoop played a concert at the Hard Rock and on May 27, Ice Cube will be performing at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.

Why not ban strip clubs? They are not only degrading to any decent human being, they also get people hurt in more ways than one. Not only financially as in getting ripped off, but also by being bullied by the socalled "personnel", in some cases even being threatened or beaten. Besides, their primitive advertising does not anyone feel good who comes in contact with it which is hard to avoid. Rap is a form of music as any other, anything else is just "opinions", nothing more. Nobody gets hurt by listening to rap.
