Paula Abdul gets Extra Friendly Skies

08:26 AM PT, Mar 3 2006
Someone needs to learn how to budget time better for air travel. "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul is often in Vegas because of her work, reported earlier on the Buffet, as an entertainment consultant for the Silverton. In January, controversy flared, when two employees at that casino claimed they were fired because Abdul blamed them for missing a flight. Now, Norm is reporting that again running late for a flight,  Abdul got the star treatment from Southwest who used back accesses to help her make her flight out of Las Vegas to Los Angeles on Thursday. The result: when the plane landed, because of the security breach, every passenger on the plane had to be screened again before being allowed to depart.

Miss Abdul should fly privately and not hold up the rest of the world for not following the rules of the road. And shame on SWA the FAA needs to fine them for skirting the security net.

Who in the hell does Paula Abdul think she is? And what is wrong with Southwest Airlines? Southwest should provide everyone on that flight whom Abdul inconvenienced with a free round-trip ticket, accompanied by a letter of apology signed by the airline president and Paula Abdul.

What the hell were these people thinking letting her bypass the security lines? Haven't OJ and Robert Blake taught us that celebrities can be dangerous?!?

That said, don't mess with my girl Paula! It isn't her fault the people at the Vegas end didn't do their jobs. If I was checking in and said I was worried I'd miss my flight, and they said "No problem, we can take you the back way and skip the security line" I'd probably figure they knew what they were doing. Do you expect Paula to pipe up and say, "Oh no, no special treatment for me..." Hah!

Paula Abdul is over rated and overpaid in my book. Shame on her for breaking the rules. She knew what she was doing wasn't right. Big head small mind. Get a real life, Paula.

My question is why was she using Southwest in the first place?

SMALL REMARKS MADE BY EVEN SMALLER PEOPLE

You know what? When I'm making millions of dollars a year and virtually everyone in America knows my name, I would like a little special treatment. I do have problems with the basis on which she is deemed elite, but it seems appropriate that the "elite" members of society should receive not only the plebes' (my) respect and admiration but also the ability to not wait in line.

Woah James,

When you make millions of dollars, you can BUY some special treatment if you choose. It doesn't (and shouldn't) necessarily come automatically. Being famous in and of itself in no way makes people more deserving of special treatment.

You know..if you are that filthy rich - why the hell are you paying about $100.00 to fly on the local airline? You shouldhave your own stinking private jet so you can fly in as you damn please to. Larry Elison does this and has his very own jet for that reason. Paula - grow up and get your own stinking airplane and leave the regular jets alone for us "other" hardworking stiffs.

John.
