"Showgirls" is turning into a sort of Gen X Rocky Horror Picture Show. The 1995 critical and box office flop that was set in Las Vegas has now become the subject for a play in New York: "Showgirls: The Best Movie Ever Made. Ever." According to the New York Daily News, the play comes complete with: "an in-depth 'interview' with an actor who portrays 'Showgirls' screenwriter Joe Eszterhas as a bloated, beer-swilling misogynist." Part of what made that terrible movie so much fun were scenes set in a Vegas strip club (the actual filming was done at Cheetahs). The ridiculously choreographed lap dancing offered James Bond stunts in place of the basic sit and grind that makes up a Las Vegas lap dance. Meanwhile, for those who want a little more reality and have a lot more money, an actual Las Vegas strip club is being auctioned today: the 70,000-square-foot strip club Sapphire Gentlemen's Club as well as the 6.2 acres of land underneath it are going up in the courtroom of District Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez at 2 pm. Opening bids start at $35 million.
